    Interesting point about fuzziness. I was just reading McLuhan’s claims that film is high-definition and TV is low-definition. It depends, of course, on what stage of technical development of these media we’re talking about (he was writing in 1964). Anyway, for McLuhan, low-res or “cool” TV is actually more engaging than high-definition media, because we are drawn into what we see in order to fill it in with our participative imagination. Much the same could be said, I think, about silent films.
